ABOUT us
OUR BREEDING
The Yeguada Indalo has been producing PRE horses for over 40 years. Its success is strongly linked to the meticulous monitoring of the breeding stock, which has been bred to produce completely homogenous lines, in terms of both conformation and temperament. We also introduce occasional and strategic combinations that allow us to improve our horse morphotype so that it can meet the highest standards of the sport, which is a crucial element to our breeding program, enabling us to check and verify the right way to go.
When at home, we always keep all of our horses in training, whether it may be ridden or not. Their ongoing assessment enables us to improve our lines and to further develop them.
The dam lines of our stud are, no doubt, the foundation of our success. Their bloodlines proudly carry the names of the many horses that have forged our current success, and that we strive to preserve with great care.
Over many decades, the PRE breed has proved that, in addition to being outstandingly beautiful, it also has the necessary qualities for sport. With our breeding, we aim to produce PRE horses that are true to their kind and unique nature and their eye-catching physique, while also showing a talent for the sport. We always strive to produce horses that are well-built, athletic, harmonious, well-balanced, and expressive.
In 2021, we were granted the World Best PRE Breeders at SICAB. Moreover, we have been honoured with several other awards in 2023, such as the acknowledgement of our leading stallion, Esbelto VII, as one of the best stallions for the production of dressage-oriented horses in the ANCCE genetic improvement program. On top of that, the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) has included Esbelto VII among its top 100 best breeding stallions.
HISTORY
Yeguada Indalo was established in 1982 by Mr. José Luis Martín Lorca. The stud laid its foundations with 12 mares from renowned bloodlines and breeding studs such as Martínez Boloix, Beca Belmonte, Blanca Domecq and Yeguada Militar. The first 5 mares were sold by the Yeguada del Hierro del Bocado and went on to constitute an integral part of the Yeguada Indalo, setting the roots of the stud. At present, the stud is run by Doña Mónica Martín, who is the founder's daughter, a qualified vet, and the heiress of José Luis ML' s legacy and equestrian knowledge.
Our stud has followed two different breeding programs: the black bloodlines, such as Ingrato X and Dibujado II, (from the Martinez Boloix bloodline), and the grey/ white bloodlines, amongst which we can find Expresivo, Amoroso XVI, Campanero XXI and Competidor III. The grey bloodline was obtained from a selection of 14 foals from the Yeguada del Hierro del Bocado.
Our stud is located in the very heart of the Costa del Sol, in the Finca Los Ortejones (Mijas, Málaga). It provides the perfect setting for breeding and raising horses with an absolute sense of freedom. Our mares and foals live in perfect harmony with the environment that surrounds them. It is rich in biodiversity and is home to a wide variety of Mediterranean flora and fauna, enabling our mares and foals to thrive in perfect harmony with nature.
The breeding programme at Yeguada Indalo is mainly focused on the production of horses that display a kind nature and good movements. We are searching for the perfect balance between functionality, personality, beauty and, sport suitability. We are committed to breeding PRE horses whose bloodlines and skills are suited for both dressage and carriage driving. Our horses are noted for their strength, kindness and beauty, which becomes obvious through their elegant and graceful movement.
Our Indalo Stud is rooted in a solid foundation that has been consolidated through patience and a very precise breeding programme.
